O Christmas tree! O Christmas tree..

Living in an apartment,we really thought twice about getting a tree thats over  2 feet :-) Last 2 Christmas' we had a mini tree which gracefully adorned our home..

My pooh bear near our tree (Dec 2011)
And this year we started hunting for a big one and luckily we got it for 100aed !! (27$), got some bulk ornaments from Day to Day (Dollar store version), painted them to match our  taste and ...

Voila!!

We stuck to the classic Christmas red/green/gold/white colors..(all others were painted white and gold -glittered). Tree skirt was a  yard sale find for 15 aed (5$), Thanks to Mariam for  some of the free(!!) gorgeous ornaments and the tree topper..
Me and Jr dint get time to do the Christmas crafts yet, so once thats done, it'll go up on the tree as well. I  made these beauties last week of Nov, using the regular air-dry clay and lookie look. :-)
The best way we made the tree ,Our Tree, was to personalize it..so we hung Jr's first shoes and last year's mittens,
.....cuttings from  the first Christmas card we got as a couple, ribbons from the first valentine gifts we exchanged....(No ..not toothbrushes LOL)
I found most of the ornaments in yard sales and flea markets, some needed a lot of TLC, and some we repurposed-like the doily angel :-) Does'nt she look adorable?
By the time we were done decorating..Jr slept off , so we waited till the next morning for him to wake up and then Jr was 'crane-lifted' to do his honors with the tree topper.
One of many reasons why we love Christmas.....

Wondering what ever happened to our small tree ?? Well, we could'nt just stash her away...We had one of Jr's toy's shirt as the topper-to make him believe that this was his tree (He named it Jordy tree)

Presenting Jordy Tree
I was surprised to see a Russian lady selling some crocheted (!!!)and antique (she said its over 55 years) ornaments,-for PEANUTS !!!!! Most of them were wooden figurines-some with one leg, one arm, worn and paint chipped, but too cute, just the way they are..so I gave them a good wipe, replaced the twine for some and just hung them up..
Our one-legged snowman..
Papa Noel and his broken sleigh

I dont think we get wooden or crocheted ornaments these days (in Dubai) If I'm wrong, please let me know where I can find more of these..I'm sorta addicted to these beauties  now..

See what I mean.....??

Oh Christmas Tree..Oh Christmas tree..
Much pleasure thou can'st give me.

Your antique wooden ornaments are just like the ones my brother and I would pick out when we were children. None of ours have survived the years and it was nice to see yours. A bit nostalgic for me. Merry Christmas from California!
